Africa Day in Budapest

Budapest, Hungary – “The African continent is a priority for Hungary,” said János Mártonyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hungary, on Africa Day, an event held in the Castle of Vajdahunyad, in the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture – thus summing up the message of the day. Edit Mészáros reports.

Many embassies from all over the world were represented at this major event; their intention was to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the predecessor of the African Union, the OAU (Organization of African Unity) together.

Sándor Balogh, president of the African Hungarian Union, considers it a favorable turn of events that more and more people in Hungary are waking up to the following truth: Africa has changed and progressed dynamically in the past two decades and that is why it is worth considering it an economic, commercial and business partner. Moreover, NGOs play an important role in the aforementioned process.
