Kordia wins $A90m contract

The Australian arm of state-owned telecommunications company Kordia has lined up a $90 million contract with a coal seam gas project.

Kordia Solutions Australia, which last week revealed it was looking for an outside investor or partner to help expand its business, yesterday said it had secured a contract with Australia Pacific LNG after a competitive tender process.

It involves Kordia supplying communications and controlling the infrastructure for the project over a 100,000sq km area.

The company’s Australian managing director, Peter Robson, said Kordia would now start work on the two-year project incorporating network design, engineering, procurement and construction for both fixed and wireless services.

“Kordia is looking forward to extending our extensive infrastructure experience in the telecommunications sector into a resources industry looking for innovation and best of breed solutions,” Robson said.

The project includes the development of coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen Basins and an LNG facility on Curtis Island.
