Swine flu vaccination October

Malawi will conduct a H1N1 – Swine Flu – vaccination by October 2010. However, only selected groups will receive the life saving jabs.

The Ministry of Health during a sensitization meeting in the commercial city of Blantyre revealed expectant women, children aged five, chronically ill with kidney problems, asthmatic or diabetic, liver failure patients and health personnel and employees stationed at ports of entry into the country will get the vaccination.

The meeting pooled together information, district health, and zonal officers including district commissioners from the Southern Region.

Malawi confirmed its first case of the Swine Flu in September 2009.
