Mr. Sandor Balogh, president of LATIMO, Mr. Tamás Tóth, Secretary General of LATIMO and members of the business council connected to LATIMO also took part at the event.
The aim of the event, which was a very significant one from the point of view of commercial development and stimulating economy, was to help Hungarian entrepreneurs and small and medium-size enterprises of the Danube Region to get into the South American market, to export their products by familiarizing them with the economic and political situation of the countries of the Latin-American region. Moreover, it wanted to promote a tighter relationship between the chambers of commerce of the countries of the Danube Region and those of the Latin states. Another important point was that the South American enterprises that are present in Western Europe should consider the countries of the Danube Region – namely Hungary – as an accentuated investment territory when further expanding and broadening their enterprises.
At the event it was again stated that the present economic cooperation forms between the two regions are far behind those that potentially could be possible or desirable. The participants widely agreed that changing this situation can be manageable even in the medium-term.
Mr. Csaba Csontos, president of the Latin-American Professional Department of BKIK (Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry), member of LATIMO introduced the South American giant, Brazil, both as a Hungarian and as an expert.
