LATIMO: We took part at the first meeting of the Hungarian-Brazilian Economic Cooperation Joint Committee

Brasilia – Mr. Csaba Csontos, president of the Latin-American Professional Department of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) and Mr. József Bethlen, associate of the Department took part at the first meeting of the Hungarian-Brazilian Economic Cooperation Joint Committee in the capital of Brazil.

The two experts, who are also members of Latimo, travelled to Latin-America as members of a Hungarian delegation led by Ms. Katalin Tóth, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development.
At the several discussions, among others, the Ministry of Rural Development and the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation in the field of agriculture and food industry.
According to the agreement it includes the following areas: ecological farming, biodiversity, gene conservation, viticulture and enology, forestry, food-safety, aquaculture, and education.

The members of the delegation, Ms. Katalin Tóth personally too, had a discussion with Maria Fernanda Nince Ferreira, Undersecretary responsible for fishery and aquaculture. At the negotiation both partners confirmed their intention for cooperation in the field of ecological fishery and integrated water treatment. Hungary was invited to take part at a Fishery and Aquaculture exhibition organized in Fortaleza in November 2013.
Ms. Katalin Tóth, Under-secretary, officially confirmed to the competent persons responsible for international relations at the Brazilian Ministry of Environment that Hungary will host the International Water Conference in the autumn of 2012. She also asked the partner, as a continuation to the Rio+ 20 Conference, to support the role of Hungary in the workgroup defining sustainable development goals. (MTI/latimoport)
