Moroccan-Hungarian business meeting in Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, Hungary – A populous Moroccan delegation came to Hungary for a three-day-long conference organized by Maroc Export, the Moroccan agency of export development. The aim of the talks is to boost export-import relations between the two countries, especially in the field of agriculture.

The delegation, made up of 25 businessmen, plan the future in close collaboration with the Moroccan-Hungarian Business Council; the first step they had agreed upon is the giving of a logistics base to the Moroccan business partners, free of charge.

The development of bilateral relations is occasionally hindered by seemingly absurd obstacles. For example, the Moroccan paprika is imported to Hungary through the intermediation of a Swiss company. Most Moroccan goods also arrive under the name of Spanish, French or Italian companies. “This is what we are currently trying to change,” said Sándor Balogh, president of the Hungarian-Moroccan Business Council.

“We are giving a 1,200 square-foot logistics base, located near Dunaharaszti, to the Moroccan businessmen, so that they may bring their products and conquer not only Hungarian, but also Eastern-European markets, ”Sándor Balogh announced. He also added that the Hungarian-Moroccan Trade and Cultural Center, opened on March 15th in Rabat, also contributes to the development of the relations between the two countries. A great number of Hungarian companies had been represented at the opening.
