AHU –team at the sausage festival in Békéscsaba

Békéscsaba – Sausages, paprika, “palinka”, African music, Asian tastes and fantastic atmosphere!  Organizers of the festival prepared for it with delicious tastes but the teams did their best too; they entered the competition with several dozens of tasty, special delicacies. One of the most peculiar companies of the contest was the team of the African-Hungarian Union, who won the special prize for their meaty creation.

 – We wanted to show that the team of the African-Hungarian Union is good not only at playing the drums or showing people Africa but at making sausages too. And here is an excellent proof of it, showed the team’s trophy Sandor Balogh, president of the union proudly and said: most probably they will enter the contest next year too.

 – Although I know both African and Hungarian sausages very well, I have never prepared any. That is why it was a fantastic experience to mince the meat and fill the sausage together, even though we were a bit clumsy, said Tanzanian-born Peter Maghama master of the mincer and the conga. Alongside Africa, Asia also entered the competition for the best sausage award; the Thai team tried to convince the jury with a real spicy delicacy.

 – The process of sausage-making is the same everywhere but we, coming from a tropical country, use herbs and vegetables together with pork, explained H.E. Sompong Sanguanbun, Ambassador of Thailand in Budapest, who said there are a lot of people visiting the sausage festival both from Hungary and abroad.
