Teens face court over high speed chase

Two teenagers arrested after a high-speed police pursuit through the southern suburbs are expected to face the Adelaide Youth Court today.

A youth, 16, is charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft, being unlawfully on a premises and going equipped to commit an offence, while a 17-year-old boy is charged with illegal use, theft and two counts of engaging in a police pursuit.

skynews 786103Police believe the pair stole the vehicle from Reynella East early last night.

It’s alleged the stolen vehicle was then used during the theft of alcohol from a Port Noarlunga bottleshop.

A stolen silver Kluger was spotted by patrols on Diagonal Rd, Warradale, about 9.50pm, which sparked a pursuit.

Police patrols, with the assistance of the police helicopter, followed the vehicle to Constance St, Westbourne Park, where the occupants fled on foot.

The area was cordoned off and a police dog called in to assist in the search.

‘Patrols were assisted by numerous calls to police by residents reporting people jumping fences in the area,’ the spokesman said. ‘Two male youths were located and arrested.’
