A day to get on electoral roll

Voters have another day to get on the electoral roll or miss out on voting for Kevin Rudd or Tony Abbott or Christine Milne or whoever.

Youth minister Kate Ellis said the enrolment rate of young Australians was still very low, with one in two of all 18-year-olds still not registered to vote.

‘There’s just one day to go for unenrolled Australians to claim their right to vote in the federal election,’ she said in a statement.

Ms Ellis said enrolling was quick and easy in the digital age.

Those wishing to get on the electoral roll have until 8pm on Monday night when the rolls close.

‘I urge all young Australians, if you haven’t enrolled yet, pick up your iPad, or switch on your laptop and spend three minutes on the Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC) website. It’s that easy,’ she said.
