Nigeria: Basketball – Shallow Crowd Worry Erinfolami

Abuja — With the national male basketball league season into its second week, it has been revealed that a lot of work still needs to be done if basketball lovers in the country are to return to match venues.

First Deepwater female basketball club of Lagos coach, Lateef Erinfolami opined in an interview with brilafm.net that poor publicity for the league by the organizers is largely responsible for the low attendance observed during games.

"Although I won’t say that people have lost interest in the game. Sometimes, when you have a lay-off, you don’t give people the opportunity to know what’s going on or the awareness.

"It takes time for people to have that desire again and say they want to watch basketball. ‘Cause, they have the impression of the facility not good. So, everything is about consistency," Erinfolami submitted.
