Microsoft removes black man from photo

The technology giant apologizes after replacing a black man’s head with that of a white man in an official photograph displayed on its Polish marketing site.

The photo, showing three smiling workers sat in an office, appeared unchanged on the American version of the site advertising business productivity.

But on the Polish version a white face had been pasted onto the black man’s body – although the man’s hand remained unaltered. The image, since removed by Microsoft, has been widely circulated on the internet after being spotted by members of the blogosphere.

The technology firm apologized for the gaffe using its official Twitter feed and said it was investigating who was responsible.

"Marketing site photo mistake – sincere apologies – we’re in the process of taking down the image," it tweeted.

Below is the original image as it appeared on the US marketing website.
