Delays expected at Melb airport

Travellers booked on some domestic flights out of Melbourne airport are being warned to arrive early to avoid delays because of security screeners’ industrial action.

About 250 security staff employed at the Qantas domestic terminal began a form of work-to-rule action at 6.30am (AEDT) today, following a break-down in crisis pay dispute talks with employer MSS Security.

The union says workers will be scrutinising each bag that comes through the check-points, in a move that’s expected to cause long queues and delays.

Passengers on domestic Qantas and Jetstar flights are being advised to arrive one hour earlier than usual.
