Cost up, service down on Sydney trains

Sydney train fares have increased by more than 200 per cent for some commuters under the O’Farrell government, but the state opposition says services are worse.

Figures from opposition transport spokeswoman Penny Sharpe show six of sixteen train lines are failing to meet the government’s aim of having 92 per cent of services running to schedule.

Ms Sharpe says 11 of the 16 lines are worse for on-time running performance than under the previous Labor government.

She’s called on the government to deliver on their promise to fix the trains, saying commuters deserve better.
