NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell said the expert Rural Fire Service team was documenting fire damage as Tasmania focuses its resources on the ongoing emergency and clean-up efforts.
“Seven personnel from NSW are currently on the ground helping record the number of houses, other structures and vehicles destroyed by the fires and the degree of damage,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“The process includes photographing structures, recording the location of damaged assets and all other relevant information.
“This is important work undertaken after any fire to ensure lessons are learnt and plans for dealing with future fires are up to date.”
Mr O’Farrell said the Rural Fire Service was preparing for the dangerous weather conditions forecast to impact NSW in the coming week.
“The weather forecast for Tuesday in particular is alarming – our state agencies are well-prepared for whatever situation may arise,” he said.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted Sydney temperatures will soar to 43C on Tuesday.
