All Stars $16m boost to NSW economy

Manchester United thrashed the A-League All Stars 5-1 in last night’s sold-out soccer game in Sydney but on the upside NSW Tourism Minister George Souris says it brought in 20 thousand visitors and 16 million dollars for the state.

Premier Barry O’Farrell says the game capped off a record-breaking winter of major events, with the State of Origin, the British and Irish Lions tour and the Socceroos injecting a combined 100 million dollars into local shops, hotels and restaurants.
